Camp Bedrest Day 13: success! Passed the Gestational Diabetes Test

Fortunately, I grow big babies. I can't really take credit though as I was under 5lbs at birth (a few weeks premature)... More likely has something to do with the 9lb 11 ounces-born Grant and the Allen genes. That said, with both of my pregnancies it was always questioned how 5 foot 5 average-me could carry babies that are in the 90th-98th percentile... and not have GD! I remember they tested Grace twice when she was born at 9lbs 8 ounces...

Any woman who has been pregnant can bemoan the dreaded glucose tolerance test - we did the three hour- consisting of a few blood draws, a nauseatingly sweet drink, fasting, and counting the hours for it to be over.

The vampire did blood draw 1 of 4 at 6am, waking me up with this box of goodies!

Fortunately, Being in the hospital meant I had the privilege of undergoing the dreaded test from the comfort of my own bed- complete with TV and Internet to kill time between the hourly blood draws! This ain't all bad, folks :)

This morning received the great news that while my baby is huge, we fortunately passed with flying colors so no GD diet for me- Dr. D told me this wasn't a trick- I can actually enjoy a few pieces of Halloween Candy this week! Score!!

Hope the outside world is treating you well!
