I have very fond memories of visiting the Children's Discovery Museum in downtown San Jose as a child, and when we moved out here, was eager to share the experience with our daughter, Gracen. Admittedly, I was a bit hesitant to go as most museums usually cater to the age 3+ crowd, even in their children's section. Fortunately a good friend suggested we check it out, and I couldn't be happier! My husband loved showing Grace around all of the science exhibits, I shared with her my favorite as a child- making cornhusk dolls, and she discovered personal favorites of her own! We loved that the museum allows families to bring in their strollers and their own lunch (there is also an adorable cafe) and while some of the exhibits are tried and true, there are awesome revolving exhibits like the current Dora the Explorer section where Grace climbed walls, went down slides and got into mischief with the childhood character favorite!

Well equipped for even the little of learners, Grace was fascinated by the bubble room, mesmerized in the water section and felt absolutely at home upstairs in the crawler's room for story time. We went outside and strolled around the garden, watched the older kids play in the art rooms and "shopped" around the market and food truck after visiting the firetruck and ambulance. At almost 1 year old, it seemed as if the museum catered just to her-- but her friend who was 3 was having just a good of time discovering more age appropriate activities for himself! We ended up going two weeks in a row, and wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a weekly thing now that we have a membership.
